Editorial
The editorial cover composition is a travel magazine containing a cover and an article spread featuring Washington D.C. The magazine spreads go into more detail regarding travel through Washington D.C. with images and recommendations of places to eat, sleep and visit. The target audience is anyone who loves travel and wants to see the sites in Washington, D.C., or that loves learning about history and would like to know more about the nation's capital. The software used to create the entire editorial was Adobe Photoshop and InDesign. Adobe Photoshop's significance was tweaking the images for brightness, contrast, color, and tone. Adobe InDesign helped the design process of all three pieces to stay organized when doing the multi-page layout. The design intention was to create a design about Washington, D.C., accompanied by information about it as a travel destination because it is not a classic vacation spot.
The article's content gives the reader details about when planning a visit to the capital of the United States, the best restaurant and hotel recommendations, and historical sites to visit. The spread also includes photos of some of those historical sites to give a visual and the use of the fact box to make the topic itself and the article more engaging.
The second spread is a continuation of the first spread. Like the first spread, I used images to have visuals to grab the attention of the reader and connect it with the written portion.
