An Evening in the Desert
I created this piece for the Berks Art Council's 2018 Fast Track Art Competition. I called it "An Evening in the Desert" because it is a landscape of an Arizona desert with the setting sun and silhouettes of a bush, cactus, and bumpy hill in the foreground. The target audience could be anyone that loves landscape artwork or people that enjoy seeing artwork that has the Arizona desert with the sun setting as artwork. The software used was an app called Procreate, which was a great choice since it had detail brushes that I used to show the effect of the clouds around the mountain and the setting sun. The design intent was to display nature's beauty through the desert landscape at sunset.
Process Work - Digital Sketches
When making this artwork, I wanted to stick with the landscape theme. I looked through royalty-free desert landscape photos, and I was drawn to them because they had beautiful sunsets and landmarks such as mountains and cacti. I added those aspects from images into my sketches because I wanted those features of the desert landscapes that I like seeing as an idea that could be in the completed desert landscape illustration.
